EMERY GRAVES

New Ross, Aug 27 - Emery Graves prominent Boone County farmer residing two miles east of New Ross, just over the Montgomery County line, committed suicide today by hanging. When found Mr. Graves was still alive but efforts to revive him failed. He died shortly after his body was discovered hanging from a rope in a sugar house on the farm near here. Mr. Graves was a highly respected and well known farmer of this community and for a time was trustee of Jackson Township in Boone County. He was between 55 and 60 years of age. The cause of the suicide could not be learned late this afternoon. Mr. Graves was discovered by his small son Emmett about 1:30 p.m. Four sons, Earl, John, William and Emmett survive as do two daughters, Mrs. Edith Owens and Mrs. Mary Needham. All reside near New Ross except William who is a resident of New Castle. The coroner of Boone County was immediately summoned. - kbz
